Systems Engineer

Position Overview

Location: Huntsville, AL

Type: Full Time


Position Description:

HyBird Space Systems is seeking a high-impact Systems Engineer to drive the execution and coordination of complex aerospace projects. This role is perfect for a strategic, forward-thinking problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and is eager to play a pivotal role in taking cutting-edge propulsion systems from concept to flight hardware.


As a senior technical leader, you will be instrumental in cross-functional project management and execution, ensuring that propulsion manufacturing, testing, and engineering operations progress seamlessly. You will work closely with the executive team, engineers, and external partners, balancing the need for immediate project execution with the long-term vision required to advance flight-ready propulsion systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversee propulsion manufacturing, testing, and systems engineering activities.
  • Bridge strategy and execution, defining roadmaps for prototype testing and flight development.
  • Coordinate across teams to ensure system-level compatibility and mission success.
  • Engage with suppliers, customers, and partners to align development efforts with mission needs.
  • Shape technology development and ensure alignment with customer needs.
  • Manage quality assurance, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, proposals, and business development efforts.

  • STEM degree (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering preferred).
  • Experience in systems engineering and/or rocket propulsion (design, testing, or manufacturing).
  • Experience leading small teams in fast paced hardware development environment.
  • Leadership experience in aerospace hardware development and operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize engineering processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience interacting with customers and project partners.
  • Experience developing technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting proposals and business development.

To conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable.
