Aerospace Engineer

Position Overview

Location: Huntsville, AL

Type: Full Time


Position Description:

HyBird Space Systems is seeking an Aerospace Engineer to support the design, analysis, and performance optimization of advanced space, rocket, and air-breathing propulsion technologies. This role offers an opportunity to develop deep expertise in aerospace analysis while directly contributing to the design, performance, and function of next-generation propulsion systems.


As an aerospace design and analysis expert, you will work on combustion device modeling, system-level performance analysis, and flight operations evaluations, applying your skills across a variety of propulsion systems and flight vehicles. Your work will span computational modeling, test data interpretation, and tool development, ensuring the efficiency and success of cutting-edge propulsion systems.


As a senior technical leader, you will play a key role in cross-functional project management and execution, collaborating with design, testing, and manufacturing teams to drive projects from concept through flight hardware development.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct combustion, structural, thermal, and fluid modeling for propulsion systems.
  • Develop and validate system-level performance models to support design and optimization.
  • Analyze test data to refine propulsion designs and verify system performance.
  • Support propulsion testing operations, contributing to data evaluation and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with design, testing, and manufacturing teams to integrate analysis findings.
  • Develop and improve custom analysis tools and workflows using industry software.


Desired Qualifications:

  • STEM degree (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering preferred).
  • Experience with aerospace analysis tools for structural, thermal, CFD, flight performance, ballistics, and shockwave modeling.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., MATLAB, ANSYS, SolidWorks, CFD tools).
  • Ability to develop and improve analysis toolsets and workflows.
  • Strong documentation skills, with experience in technical reporting and proposals.
